Communication Tools - Fundraising facts

Dealing with the media | Press Releases | Fundraising facts | Using your MP

Listed below are a range of costs for activities that Age Concerns regularly provide. Often when fundraising it helps to put our efforts into perspective so that the general public can better understand the work we do. The information below can be a very powerful motivator for fundraising materials and can help each person feel that their donations really do make a difference.

What can the money we raise do? Age Concern's shopping basket

£5 - will cover the cost of a nutritious meal for an older person.

£25 - will train a home services volunteer.

£50 - will provide an emergency heater to an older person during the winter months.

£100 - will pay for a handy person to make vital improvements to an older person's home, so that it is safe and warm.

£500 - will pay the weekly running costs of a minibus service to pick older people up from home and take them to town for essential shopping or to a local day centre.

£1,000 - means that an Age Concern day centre can stay open for a week, allowing hundreds of older people to enjoy activities, companionship and warmth.

£5,000 - could equip a new Age Concern office with computers and software.

£10,000 - could pay for an extension to a rapidly expanding day centre.

£15,000 - will help fund a three year project where a team of volunteers, supported by part time staff, provide friendship and support to isolated or housebound older people.

£20,000 - could set up a project to provide a lunch club for profoundly deaf older people, run by deaf unemployed adults. From morning coffee until afternoon tea this club will provide a rare opportunity for deaf adults to cook, serve, befriend, advise and counsel others.
